The Minister of Transport, Honourable. Sindisiwe Chikunga, will be delivering the keynote address at the Road Freight SME Summit, which takes place on 20 and 21 October at the Maslow Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg. Acting Director General of Small Business Development, Thulisile Manzini, will also be addressing delegates at the event.
The Summit is a two-day event that will bring together small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the road freight sector, to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the industry, such as labour issues, road safety, compliance, funding, the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) and cross-border challenges. It is designed to assist SMEs with the necessary pragmatic, technical and operational insights to enable them to scale their businesses.
“The Minister’s participation in the Summit is a demonstration of the government’s commitment to supporting the growth and development of the road freight SME sector,” says event organiser Florence Musundwa of Grow Supplier ZA. “The road freight sector is a vital part of the South African economy, and SMEs play a critical role in the sector, and we need to ensure their sustainability. - Cross-border challenges for SME transport and logistics companies paying more attention to border challenges within SADC and East Africa.
