After being the only manufacturer to be nominated in six categories as part of the inaugural TruckX Conference and Awards, Mercedes-Benz South Africa (MBSA) was presented with four awards, taking home the Best Extra-Heavy/Heavy Commercial Vehicle Manufacturer, Best Medium Commercial Vehicle Manufacturer, Best After-Sales Service and the coveted Truck of the Year accolades.

The awards not only celebrate champions within the logistics industry but are also set to revolutionise the way the various stakeholders within the sector interact with each other, ensuring that customers' needs are fully met.

Conducted by independent research institute TNS, the survey examined a broad spectrum of parameters, such as South Africa's best original equipment manufacturer; most popular pool vehicle across rental and private fleet sectors; compact commercial vehicles and recognising South Africa's most popular long-haul vehicle in the heavy / extra-heavy sector, amongst others.

The independent survey included 2 850 fleet owners, manufacturers, dealers, logistics and freight handlers, whose collective voice resoundingly chose Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles as their most preferred business partner.

Clinton Savage, Divisional Manager for Mercedes-Benz Trucks was part of the panel who dissected the industry-related question: Is South Africa's logistics sector embracing technology? Chaired by Jeremy Maggs, Savage highlighted to the panel and gathered industry players that Mercedes-Benz trucks are indeed leaders in terms of using technology to etch out advantages for their varying customers.

"Being a recipient of the TruckX Awards is testament of MBSA's consistent efforts to be a local manufacturer that produces vehicles of the highest quality. It comes as no surprise that we came out victors in these categories, as we aim to be the best in all that we involve ourselves in, added Savage.

"This further demonstrates that MBSA's value chain approach and its unmatched total customer experience ensure our customers regard us as a vital part of their businesses," he added.

With logistics being such a competitive industry, customers can rest assured that MBSA's multi award-winning products offer tailor-made and optimised solutions. The manufacturer prides itself on being proficient at vastly improving efficiency while reducing the total cost of ownership.

Once again MBSA has been rewarded for repeatedly achieving outstanding performances in the logistics industry, making it particularly worthy of receiving the TruckX Awards.
