  • Jonathan Cotterell, Divisional Director for the Kempston Group: "It is no surprise that we keep going back to the trusted FUSO Trucks brand, as they offer us critical qualities that very few other manufacturers can."

For almost 45 years, Kempston Truck Hire has been regarded as one of South Africa's most successful vehicle hire businesses, due to its long-standing commitment of offering customers tailor-made solutions. The company's progression is also attributable to its robust fleet, of which FUSO Trucks plays a vital role.

Based in East London and operating nationally, Kempston recently bought its 100th FUSO truck in 2017 in order to ensure it stays as one of the leading vehicle hire businesses in the country. This marks a milestone in the expansion of its vehicle fleet, as well as the provision of a comprehensive offering of value chain services.

"It is no surprise that we keep going back to the trusted FUSO Trucks brand, as they offer us critical qualities that very few other manufacturers can," said Jonathan Cotterell, Divisional Director for the Kempston Group.

"I can tell you now that it is almost impossible for a single Original Equipment Manufacturer to fulfil all of our needs as a vehicle hire business. FUSO Trucks are rugged, are built to the highest quality, they are incredibly strong and are what we consider to be a premium product. Some of our clients we hire trucks to include various municipalities, government departments, logistics companies and distribution companies, so it is important for us to hire out a brand that we have 100% faith in, as our reputation is on the line."

"Of course, one of the most important factors in choosing which vehicles to hire out is price and, again, FUSO trucks come out on tops in this regard as well. That is why we opted for financing through Mercedes-Benz Financial Services in order to make the deal even easier to seal. We also place great emphasis on relationships, which is why it has become second nature for us to speak to FUSO team members such as Pravinda Naidu, their National Fleet Sales Manager," said Cotterell.

Reliability, technical back-up and strong relationships with its customers are just some of the traits the FUSO Trucks team prides itself on.

"The handover of the 100th FUSO truck to Kempston this year alone is more than just a transaction for us. We consider them as an integral business partner and that is why we are always ready to first listen to their needs, then offer our own solutions. We hope to continue exceeding their expectations in the foreseeable future as well," said Ziyad Gaba, Head of FUSO Trucks Southern Africa.

FUSO Trucks Southern Africa has been a long-term strategic partner of Kempston Truck Hire in providing high quality trucks in order to meet the growing demands of the vehicle hire market. Kempston boasts in excess of 700 FUSO trucks in its fleet and intends to remain with the manufacturer.
